Hi everyone,
As the year nears its end, I want to make a quick post sharing the current state of the game, how development is currently going, and where things are heading. I've received quite a few questions on this topic during the last year, and I do want to offer at least a little bit of insight into the process.
To put things clearly - at this point, I am the only person actively working on the game on a daily basis. I am continuing to look for sources of funding to scale development back up, but so far I have had to make do with my own time to continue development to move things forward. A few earlier team members did help out a bit early in the year (for which I thank you all immensely!) but at this point it's essentially just myself continuing to work on Core Decay while personal resources allow me.
I haven't been all that transparent on this point throughout the year, partially because I never know if a more concrete path ahead might be just on the horizon, but also because I do not want to cause misdirected blame - I have had only positive experiences with Slipgate Ironworks and Saber Interactive alike. Core Decay, like so many other projects, was hit hard by the turbulence in the game industry over the last couple years, and the truth is that mid-development immersive sims are inherently a kind of project that is vulnerable to these kind of economic shifts.
So while I am still pursuing sources of funding to complete the game, I remain on great terms with everyone who has helped the project out up until this point, and it is my hope that I can find a way to bring it past the finish line one way or another!
In the meantime, I'm continuing to make additions to the game every day - updates may be sporadic or slow at times and there's no current schedule or target release date, but I do keep developing Core Decay and I can do most development work on my own (as time consuming as it is without a team backing things up). My hope is that even if nothing else happens on the financial front I'll be able to give you all a public demo to check out sometime next year!
I am incredibly grateful for all the words of encouragement received throughout 2024, and I do want to make it clear that the game will get completed - it's just a matter of when :)
I will continue to release development updates and try to do so on a reasonably regular basis. Today I made a new development post going over the Cybernetics feature:

And there's plenty more to come over the next number of months going over other features and content not seen yet. Thank you all for the continued support - I'm looking forward to sharing even more of the game in the future!
