Getting this classic forum thread format going, to talk about games we're playing at the moment!

I've been returning to Caves of Cud a bit with its most recent update. Still as mystifying and captivating as always, and personally I think it's probably the best game in its genre today. Really looking forward to the 1.0 release later this year :D

Another game I've picked up a bit again is World of Warcraft - I enjoy it a lot as a game where I can level various characters and just lose myself in a world much larger than my own character's story. Playing it super casually but it's a great 'hobby game' to unwind in after a day of debugging code.

Finally, been delving into Songs of Conquest for the first time since the original early access release. Fantastic turn-based strategy in the vein of Heroes of Might & Magic and a strong recommend!

Playing three things right now.

First one is a new release. Skald: Against the black priory, a really cool oldschool Rpg. Is a mixture of Realms of Arkania: Star Trail and older Ultima entries. Feels like an oldschool version of Baldurs Gate 3. Interesting sidequests and a dark lovecraftian universe with deep rpg mechanics. Highly Recommended.

Next one is Sonar Shock. Another new title, sorta of an immersive sim in the vein of Ultima Underworld / System Shock 1. But set on a huge russian sub where strange things arw happening. Has dungeon crawler vibes, kinda simple but very atmospheric and fun to play.

Lastly revisiting Silent Hill 3. Love the music and thw art direction. Feels a little weirdly paced and enemies are annoying. Not quite Silent Hill 1 or 2, but atill unique enough to be worth a visit.

Been really curious about this one! Seems right up my alley, so will have to give that a look one of these days :D

Holy shit how have I not heard of this! That trailer is sooo cool I cannot wait to play it!

Recently finished Sonar Shock, Cruelty Squad and Lunacid (recent indie game compared to King's Field a lot, very fun!).

Currently playing Beyond All Reason every so often with friends.
Besides that I recently 'discovered' Patrician III, an old game about trading and logistics during the medieval following the Haneatic League.

I've been hitting up some ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) again trying to get into Trials (Raids).

I'm also finally playing Half-Life: Alyx...my gosh such a great game. This year has a lot of great-looking VR games coming out that I am excited about.

I also need to finish FF7 Remake and Intergrade waiting for Rebirth's PC release.

After completing the system shock remake and finding it difficult to choose, I went and created another character in Baldurs Gate 3, which I have many hours in already. There's something powerful about the predictable. I made an old half-orc monk with braided whitened hair and beard. Love him.

I too have been playing Caves of Qud! I finally bought the game when the new UI hit the beta branch a few weeks ago; frankly, the old UI was the only thing keeping me from playing it until now. I didn't grow up with text-based rogue games so I had no attachment to that style of menus, and I felt I'd waste my time if I were to adapt for just one game.

Other than that, I recently finished Castlevania: Symphony of the Night which I just adored, so much so that I spent the very next day getting all the endings, one of which requires you to get at least 196% completion. While playing it, I kept thinking: "Wow, Dark Souls borrowed this, Dead Cells did it this way, Hollow Knight incorporated this like that." It felt like I was playing through a living museum of game designs that were later picked up (and sometimes perfected) by other games. So now I'm kind of going on a Metroidvania binge all at once, playing through the Metroid Prime trilogy, Blasphemous, and Rain World to see how design trends evolve from game to game.

Rain World is probably in my top 3 all time favorite games. Absolutely fantastic experience :D

cicadak Playing Deus Ex for the 9999th time, this time doing Revision. I don't really get the hate it generally gets, the reimagined maps are pretty damn good and balanced and sometimes offer even more posibilty for multiple augmentations to shine even more than (dare I say) the original maps. It's cool.

Yeah, Revision is great. Personally I probably still prefer the original overall but it's great to have some variety and fun to see some re-imaginings of all the classic locations. Definitely had some fun Revision playthroughs!

Also been getting my ass kicked in Valorant. Can't believe I willingly installed spyware in my machine for this.

I've been enjoying Balatro, that game really surprised me, as I wasn't expecting myself to enjoy a card game. It's fantastic at introducing a new player to its mechanics.

Besides that, I've been playing Crime Boss: Rockay City. I really like PvE Coop games, and after the unfortunate disappointment that was Payday 3, it's filling the spot nicely. CB:RC was quite mediocre on launch, but the developers stuck with it and kept updating it until it really filled a niche of its own. It originally launched on Epic, and it's going on Steam on the 18th of this month with all DLCs (including a new one that releases on launch) for free. I highly recommend it.

Have been appreciating Balatro a lot as well - been really enjoying finding interesting synergies between cards!

Gonna try that as well soon, looks really good, but feml down the all consuming Elden Ring pit again.

Blade Sword

The system shock remake :) and so far it's impressive that they made things different but also keeping it very faithful to the original.

I'm playing through Vampire The Masquerade:Bloodlines again, after years. it's great fun and the style of the characters abd soundtrack is very reminiscent of its time which brings out the nostalgia.

I just finished Selaco early access episode 1 which was fantastic.

I still haven't put many hours into Baldurs Gate 3 so that's my next stop, the Sonar Shock.

Replaying the Doom series at the moment, finished Doom 1, 2 and 64.
Started replaying Doom 3 this morning.

Outside of that, I picked up Fallen Aces, and trying to do the stealth/non-lethal thing in it.
Though... I've accidentally killed a few people.

I am being detestible right now and playing a number of games people dunk on. That means Starfield for singleplayer and Fortnite with my friends. Sometimes we also play a little Risk of Rain 2, Crab Champions, Civilisation VI or Ready or Not. It's quite an eclectic collection, I know.

I'm currently waiting for the release of Fallout: London, Skyblivion, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Avowed and Atomfall.

I've released a Doom and Quake map recently. I will be starting more after including something for Duke3D and Ion Fury in Build and learning Half Life at some point soon I hope
